Veterinary hospital hours. This category covers Banfield Pet Hospital and VCA Animal Hospital, the two largest US corporate-owned veterinary chains.

Most veterinary hospital chains run 7:00 AM through 7:00 PM Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM through 5:00 PM Saturday, and reduced or closed Sunday hours. Banfield Pet Hospitals are typically located inside PetSmart stores and run hours that overlap with the host PetSmart but close earlier (typical 7:00 PM weekday close). VCA Animal Hospitals are standalone veterinary practices with similar weekday hours and slightly longer Saturday and Sunday availability at larger-market locations.

Christmas Day, Thanksgiving Day, and most federal holidays are closed chain-wide. Emergency veterinary care is not available at most chain hospitals outside posted hours; most chains direct after-hours emergency calls to local 24-hour veterinary emergency centers (typically separate practices).

Most chains operate wellness plans (Banfield’s Optimum Wellness Plan, VCA CareClub) with monthly subscription pricing that includes routine exams, vaccines, and discounted services. Both chains accept walk-ins for some services (vaccines, nail trims) but exams and procedures require appointments.
