Optical retailer and vision center hours. This category covers LensCrafters, Pearle Vision, Visionworks, America’s Best Contacts & Eyeglasses, plus the in-store vision centers at Walmart, Target, Sam’s Club, and Costco.

Most optical retailers run 9:00 AM through 8:00 PM or 9:00 PM Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM through 6:00 PM Saturday, and 11:00 AM through 5:00 PM or 6:00 PM Sunday at most stores. In-store vision centers at warehouse clubs run shorter hours that match the host club: Costco Optical typical 10:00 AM through 8:30 PM weekdays, Sam’s Club Optical similar pattern, Target Optical and Walmart Vision Center typically match the host store’s hours.

Christmas Day is closed chain-wide. Thanksgiving Day is typically closed. Easter Sunday is closed at many stores. Eye exams require appointments (typical 1 to 3 weeks lead time at most chains); contact lens fittings often require multiple follow-up visits. Eyewear pickup is typically walk-in.

Insurance plan acceptance varies by chain. Most chains accept VSP, EyeMed, Davis Vision, and major medical insurance with vision coverage. Costco Optical has a unique model where eye exams are typically performed by an independent optometrist whose practice is co-located with the Costco.
