Pharmacy hours
Pharmacy hours for major US pharmacy chains and in-store grocery and big-box pharmacies. This category covers CVS Pharmacy, Walgreens, Rite Aid, plus the in-store pharmacies at Walmart, Target, Publix, H-E-B, Sam’s Club, and Costco.
Most US pharmacies run 9:00 AM through 9:00 PM Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM through 6:00 PM Saturday, and 10:00 AM through 6:00 PM Sunday. Pharmacy hours run significantly shorter than the main store hours at grocery and big-box hosts (Walmart, Publix, H-E-B). Many pharmacies close for a 30-minute lunch break (typically 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM) where the pharmacist is the sole employee.
Christmas Day closes pharmacies chain-wide. Thanksgiving Day closes most chain pharmacies (CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid corporate pharmacies stay open with reduced hours; in-store grocery pharmacies typically close). Easter Sunday is closed at most pharmacies. The pharmacist license requirement creates the staffing constraint that drives shorter pharmacy hours versus the host store.
