Grocery store hours

Grocery store hours for major US supermarket chains. This category covers Whole Foods Market, Trader Joe’s, Publix, Kroger, Albertsons and Safeway, Wegmans, Food Lion, Stop & Shop, Hy-Vee, Meijer, Sprouts Farmers Market, ShopRite, Winn-Dixie, ALDI, H-E-B, and Giant Eagle.

Most US grocery chains run 7:00 AM through 10:00 PM or 11:00 PM seven days a week, with Sunday hours that match weekday hours at the majority of chains (unlike many other retail verticals where Sunday is shorter). Destination-format chains like Wegmans extend to 6:00 AM through midnight; Midwest supercenters like Meijer run 24 hours at select urban-market stores.

Christmas Day is closed chain-wide at virtually every major US grocer. Thanksgiving Day is closed at most premium chains (Whole Foods, Wegmans) and runs reduced hours at value-tier chains (typical 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM). Easter Sunday runs reduced hours at most chains. The day before Thanksgiving is typically the single busiest day of the year for US grocery; Christmas Eve is second-busiest.
